POSITION SUMMARY

The CTE Teacher is responsible for facilitating and ensuring students can effectively demonstrate knowledge of the following per Arizona CTE standards.

 
Athletic training services for SLUSD will NOT be required through this position, but the Sports Med teacher will be required to work closely with our Athletic Trainer and Athletics Dept to ensure alignment of our instruction and to provide internship experiences for our Level 3 students. 
 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate (CTE)
  • Appropriately Certified in CTE Business or able to obtain within the first year.
  • SEI Endorsement Required
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
  • Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the student population, including a curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems, and students with special needs.
  • Create lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
  • Required to lead a CTSO
  • Maintain and grow the Athletic Training Partnership with Summit Healthcare and local medical professionals
  • Use available technology to enhance learning, i.e., Beyond Textbooks
  • Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
  • Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices
  • Effectively implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Establish classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction
  • Participate in team reviews concerning the academic progress of low-performing students
  • Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems and attendance
  • Reflect on teaching and strive to improve professional competence
  • Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Participate in the intervention process at sites
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences
  • Participate in school and district initiatives
  • Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the district or school site

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Employees may be subject to travel, body fluids, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and intense noise. Employees may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
