POSITION SUMMARY:

 

To assure the health care of students in the District; to provide health-related assistance to students; to assist in creating a climate of health and well-being; to assure a caring and understanding environment for students.  Willing to be an integral member of a successful instructional team. Dedicated to providing the highest level of service to the District and students. Presents professional appearance, including hygiene and conduct.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Current EMT, CNA or Medical Assistance Certificate, Current CPR and First Aid card. Experience working with children. Competent Computer Skills.  Personal hygiene.  Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Assists in preparation of a physical environment that meets the needs of students;
  • Directs implementation of federal and state-mandated programs (i.e., homeless liaison);
  • Maintains student health profiles/special reports;
  • Conducts staff in-service on safety, communicable diseases, and emergencies;
  • Sterilizes and maintains medical equipment and supplies;
  • Administer medications;
  • Maintain and secures medical equipment and supplies;
  • Manages health services budget;
  • Composes health-related articles and informational materials for distribution;
  • Maintains immunization records and deficiency notification;
  • Maintains bulletin boards and displays of health education materials;
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned;
  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification;
  • Maintains automated student health profiles/special reports;
  • Completes state and county reports;
  • Administers emergency treatment and medical care to students and staff;
  • Maintains daily log of medical treatment of students and staff;
  • Performs visual and auditory screenings;
  • Supervises students, as assigned, during non-instructional activities;
  • Assists with health education activities;
  • Transports children as required;
  • Has responsibility for highly confidential records;
  • Ability to communicate and work well with children and staff;
  • Obtain Pure Tone Audiometric certification within the first year of employment and must keep current;
  • Pass CPR and First Aid Instructor Candidate Course or complete Instructor Apprenticeship within the first year of employment;
  • Teach CPR and First Aid classes according to the rotation schedule determined by the Supervising Health Technician;
  • Attend job-related conferences as assigned by immediate supervisor.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

 

The above-mentioned duties would be required of all healthcare service providers.
