PERSONNEL: Library Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires 6 to 12 months experience in a similar job
- Must have training in the Dewey Classification System, correct library procedures, effective communication techniques, common library reference books, and appropriate equipment operation
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm
- Must be able to work cooperatively with other personnel
- Requires judgment and the making of minor decisions
- Prepare library media using correct cataloging techniques.
- Supervise student users and library science students.
- Demonstrate AV and video equipment usage to students and teachers
- Use normal office equipment proficiently, including computers.
- Apply library practices and procedures.
- Teach library science to students using the library.
- Help library patrons.
- Promote library usage among students and faculty.
- Maintain inventory of AV equipment and supervise minor repairs.
- Responsibility for correctly making all media shelf-ready and serving a variety of user needs (including reference assistance) are inherent aspects of the job.
- Other duties as assigned within the area of job responsibility.
